18 September 2013: The Global Climate Change Alliance (GCCA) event held in Brussels from 18-20 September 2013 provided an important opportunity to advance North / South dialogue about National Adaptation Plans (NAPs).
Discussion and outreach on advancing NAPs was held by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) at the second global event of the Global Climate Change Alliance (GCCA).
This Second GCCA Global Policy Event brought together development and climate change practitioners with those responsible for negotiating international agreements in the context of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
Presentations at the event addressed climate policies at European and international levels, including Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMAs); Low Emission Development Strategies (LEDs) as well as NAPs and the effectiveness of climate finance.
The GCCA was launched in 2007 by the European Commission to strengthen dialogue and cooperation on climate change between the European Union (EU) and developing countries most vulnerable to climate change, in particular Least Developed Countries (LDCs) and Small Island Developing States (SIDS), which are hardest hit by the adverse effects of climate change.
