Private sector mapping, outreach, and engagement in climate-responsive agrifood systems
Agrifood companies and the private sector are vital partners in addressing global climate change. The Scaling up Climate Ambition on Land Use and Agriculture through nationally determined contributions (NDCs) and National Adaptation Plans (NAPs) (SCALA) programme recognizes their unique role in driving innovation and investment for transformative climate action in agriculture and land use. The SCALA private sector engagement guidance series aims to support SCALA-supported countries in their efforts to engage with the private sector for the implementation of their national climate plans. The first addition to this series is the "Private sector mapping, outreach, and engagement in climate-responsive agrifood systems" guidance.
This guidance outlines a three-step process for collaboration between the public and private sectors to drive NAPs and NDCs implementation. It explains how to identify relevant private sector actors, prioritize them based on climate relevance and potential contributions, and engage them strategically in joint climate action. By utilising this guidance, countries can enhance private sector engagement, foster partnerships, and drive climate actions in the agrifood sectors.
